A monument was first built in 1931 to honor Wilson's role in Poland's return to independence. German occupation during World War II destroyed the original, but a replacement was later discovered and installed in the park.
The park bears Wilson's name because of his role in supporting Polish independence during the early 20th century. Visitors today encounter a space dedicated to remembering this international connection that mattered to the city's future.
The bust is freely accessible and located at the edge of a public park that is easy to reach on foot. Tram lines run nearby along Głogowska Street, making it convenient for visitors traveling by public transit.
The current bust was created by artist Zofia Trzcińska-Kamińska and survived the war buried underground. It remained hidden for nearly 3 decades before being discovered by chance in 1974.
