Polesie

Polesie is a residential quarter on the western side of Łódź, composed of several neighborhoods such as Karolew, Retkinia, and Złotno. The district covers a large area and combines residential buildings, green spaces, and notable structures throughout its neighborhoods.

Development of this quarter began in 1824 when the city boundaries expanded westward and new residential areas were opened. Formal administrative recognition came in 1946 as part of the city's broader reorganization efforts.

The Karol Poznański Palace stands as a notable architectural presence in this quarter, now functioning as the Academy of Music. This cultural institution brings students and visitors to the area, shaping the district's artistic character.

The quarter is accessible by public transportation, with various infrastructure improvements enhancing connectivity throughout the area. Visitors should allow time to explore the different neighborhoods, as the district covers a substantial area with distinct sections.

The district contains Park na Zdrowiu and the Łódź Botanical Garden, offering substantial green spaces within residential areas. These green areas are surprisingly spacious for an urban neighborhood and provide quiet moments among the city blocks.
