Zwierzyniec House, Historical museum in Zwierzyniec district, Krakow, Poland
Dom Zwierzyniecki is a museum building in the Zwierzyniec district that displays how people lived in early 1900s Krakow. The house sits on Królowej Jadwigi street near a monastery and a church at the base of Kosciuszko Mound.
The building was constructed around 1910 as a stonemason's residence and later received a new purpose in the 1970s. Between 1970 and 1990 it served as a museum dedicated to Lenin's time in Krakow.
The house displays how families lived in early 1900s Krakow, with furniture and everyday objects from that period. Visitors can see the way people arranged their rooms and what items were part of their daily lives.
The museum is open daily and features a permanent exhibition about early 1900s living along with rotating themed displays. Plan for at least one to two hours to explore the rooms at a relaxed pace.
Between 1996 and 2009 the building housed an art salon that organized many art exhibitions and shows about the area's local history. This phase as an art venue is something many visitors today do not know about.
