Pogwizdów, Border village in Cieszyn County, Poland

Located along the Olza River in southern Poland, Pogwizdów spans across rolling hills with elevations between 240 and 283 meters above sea level.

First documented in 1447 as Pogwyzdow, this settlement belonged to the Duchy of Teschen and later became part of the Habsburg monarchy after 1526.

The village population includes a mixture of Roman Catholic and Protestant residents, with many speaking the regional Cieszyn Silesian dialect.

Positioned 32 kilometers west of Bielsko-Biała and 60 kilometers southwest of Katowice, Pogwizdów maintains direct road connections to neighboring communities.

During the severe famine of 1848-1849, only two families in Pogwizdów survived, marking a defining moment in the village's demographic history.
