Bania, Mountain summit in Rabka-Zdrój, Poland
Bania is a mountain summit reaching 612 meters above sea level, with steep northern slopes descending toward the Raba River and gentler western and southern inclines. Residential buildings from the Gawronówki district occupy the southern slopes, while agricultural fields and dense forest cover the remaining areas.
The name derives from the Polish word for mine, indicating past mining activities in the region. In the 19th century, the summit was marked as Pilna on historical maps before adopting its current name.
The summit features a commemorative plaque established by the Hunting Association Bór from Rabka, representing local hunting traditions and community connections.
Access from the south is defined by residential areas, while northern approaches pass through forested terrain. The varying slope angles affect hiking routes and the time needed to reach the summit.
Since 1965, deep drilling operations beneath the slopes have extracted warm brine waters to tap the region's mineral resources. These operations supply the local spa facilities with naturally heated thermal waters.
