Baranie, also known as Stávok, rises to 2526 meters above sea level, featuring multiple hiking paths through steep rocky terrain to reach its peak.
The mountain has been a focal point for regional mountaineering since the early 20th century, with documented climbing routes established by Slovak alpinists.
Local mountain guides pass down traditional knowledge about the summit's weather patterns and climbing techniques through generations of mountaineering families.
The ascent to Baranie requires technical climbing equipment and takes approximately five hours to complete, covering 22.5 kilometers with 1500 meters elevation gain.
The summit presents seven different climbing routes, including the notable Šádkova cesta, which reaches grade UIAA IV in technical difficulty.
