Dom Partii in Białystok, Socialist realism building in Białystok, Poland.
Dom Partii is a socialist realist building in Białystok with a semicircular floor plan spanning three stories. Its sandstone-faced facades feature rectangular windows set between fluted pilasters on the upper floors.
Constructed between 1951 and 1952 by architect Stanisław Bukowski, the building initially served as headquarters for the Polish United Workers' Party provincial committee. It later transitioned to academic use following the end of the socialist era.
The structure represents a combination of modernist and classical elements, displaying characteristic socialist realist architecture through its symmetrical design and formal details.
The building is located on Plac Niezależnego Zrzeszenia Studentów and is easily accessible by public transportation. It now houses the University of Białystok's History and Political Science Department and can be visited during regular university hours.
Unlike many structures from its era, the building retains much of its original socialist interior design while serving in a modern academic setting. This blend creates an intriguing contrast between different periods of Polish history within the same space.
