Bateria B-44-5, Military fortification in Tonie district, Kraków, Poland.
This artillery battery contains three concrete shelters, defensive moats, and strategic positions for infantry and artillery placement on elevated ground.
Built between 1902 and 1903, the fortification was designed to control military operations in the Modlniczka-Tomaszowice-Szyce-Giebułtów area along the Olkusz route.
The fortification represents Polish military engineering practices from the early 20th century, marking a period of enhanced defensive preparations in Kraków.
Located 700 meters from the intersection of Łokietka and Gaik streets, the battery maintains its structural elements despite the passage of time.
Four 15 cm M. 61 guns were stationed at this battery, requiring a dedicated crew of 59 military personnel for operation in 1914.
