Kościół św. Wojciecha i Matki Boskiej Bolesnej w Modlnicy, Wooden church in Modlnica, Poland.
The church was built from timber and features vertical plank siding on its exterior walls with shingled roofs. An octagonal bell tower in baroque style rises prominently above the main structure.
Construction started in 1553 and the church was consecrated in 1555. In 1622 a masonry funeral chapel was added on the northern arm, changing the original layout.
Religious scenes and decorative patterns from the Renaissance cover the interior walls, creating a colorful visual experience when you enter. These works remain visible throughout the main space today.
The building is located in the Lesser Poland region and forms part of the Wooden Architecture Trail. You can access it easily and view it from the exterior without difficulty.
The main altar holds a Gothic painting of Madonna with Child from the 15th century. A red marble tabernacle crafted by Jan Maria Padovano sits at the heart of this sacred space.
