Orthodox church in Wasilków

The Orthodox church in Wasilków is a brick building with a centralized layout and domes, designed according to Russian Revival architectural principles. Its structure follows typical Orthodox features with an altar area and a main worship space.

The church was built in 1853 and reflects the long presence of Orthodox Christian communities in northeastern Poland. It has endured through various historical upheavals and maintains this continuity to the present day.

The iconostasis inside divides the worship space from the sanctuary and displays religious images central to Orthodox prayer. Visitors see here the visual heart of Orthodox tradition, where sacred depictions connect the community with the divine.

The building serves the Diocese of Bialystok-Gdansk and welcomes visitors during regular services and religious celebrations. It is best visited when respecting religious times and approaching this active place of worship with appropriate courtesy.

Since November 1993, the building has been inscribed on the Polish cultural heritage register and is officially protected. This recognition honors its importance as a preserved record of the region's religious and architectural variety.
