Czerniec, Mountain summit in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland.
Czerniec is a mountain summit in the Bystrzyckie Mountains of the Central Sudetes, rising to 891 meters. The peak features steep slopes descending from a well-defined summit area that includes a wooden observation tower.
The mountain area holds remains of Szczerba Castle, built between the 14th and 15th centuries to guard trade routes leading toward Czech lands. This medieval stronghold was strategically placed to control border traffic.
The wooden observation tower on the summit opened in 2021 as part of a cross-border development project between Poland and the Czech Republic. The structure allows visitors to experience the surrounding mountain landscape and border region from an elevated vantage point.
Access to the summit follows a yellow-marked hiking trail that starts at Jagodna shelter and passes through the Kamieńczyk area toward Międzylesie. The route is clearly marked throughout this mountain region.
The eastern slope hosts the Solna Jama cave at around 500 meters elevation, situated near the Diabelskie Skały rock formations. These hidden natural features make the location a geological point of interest beyond the main hiking routes.
