Dziurawy Kamień, Fissure cave in Karkonosze Mountains, Poland.
Dziurawy Kamień is a fissure cave in the granite rocks of the Karkonosze Mountains that runs roughly 20 meters deep into the mountainside. Two separate openings allow access from different elevations, and the passage inside contains natural steps and a deeper vertical shaft farther back.
The cave formed through natural tectonic movements and weathering of the granite over long periods, making it one of the longest fissure caves in the mountain range. It gradually became a recognized stopping point for hikers exploring the region.
Situated near the black tourist trail leading to Chojnik Castle, this cave has been a frequent stop for travelers exploring the mountainous region.
The cave requires no special equipment since daylight fills the entire passage and the route can be completed quickly. The narrow spaces and natural steps mean comfortable hiking shoes are essential, and you may need to duck or crouch in some sections.
Sunlight reaches every part of the passage, eliminating the need for flashlights and making it unusual among similar granite caverns in the region. This natural brightness makes the visit accessible even for those uncomfortable in darker underground spaces.
