Franków, Mountain summit in Beskid Niski, Poland
Franków hill reaches an elevation of 534 meters above sea level on the northern edge of the Beskid Niski mountain range in Poland.
The hill became a strategic German defense position in September 1944 during the Dukla-Presov operation against the advancing Soviet 38th Army.
A monument at the summit commemorates the soldiers who lost their lives during the intense battles between German and Czechoslovak-Soviet forces.
The hiking trail to Franków summit extends 7.45 kilometers with an elevation gain of 298 meters, requiring approximately three and a half hours to complete.
Two German infantry regiments from the 101st and 78th divisions defended this position, leading to 164 Czechoslovak soldiers killed in a single day.
