Galeria im. Sleńdzińskich w Białymstoku, Kunstmuseum in Polen
The Galeria im. Sleńdzińskich is an art museum in Białystok dedicated to the Sleńdziński family and displaying works from multiple generations of artists. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, traditional craft objects, and musical instruments such as a harpsichord.
The museum opened in 1993 in a former prayer house called Dom Modlitwy Cytronów. In 2010, the gallery expanded with a new space on Legionowa Street to accommodate more exhibitions by regional artists.
The gallery is named after the Sleńdziński family, a group of artists from Wilno whose work shaped the region's creative traditions. Visitors can see how their artistic legacy connected Polish and Lithuanian art worlds.
The museum is located near Ludwika Waryńskiego Street and is easily reached on foot from the city center. The spaces are intimate but well-lit, allowing visitors time to examine the artworks carefully.
One of the most interesting items in the collection is a harpsichord that belonged to Julitta Sleńdzinska, a rare example of a handcrafted musical instrument. The museum also hosts regular events called Thursdays at Sleńdzińskich, where artists, writers, and musicians interact directly with visitors.
