Gdynia Motor Museum, Motor museum and warehouse in Chylonia, Poland
Gdynia Motor Museum is housed in a former port warehouse and displays working vintage cars, classic limousines, and motorcycles arranged along a cobblestone street lined with recreated building facades. The vehicles span different decades and represent various styles and manufacturers from the early automotive era.
The museum occupies a former port warehouse that reflects Gdynia's transformation from a fishing village into a major maritime harbor in the 1920s. This expansion brought international cargo ships carrying imported automobiles, which influenced the focus of the collection.
The exhibition features replicas of interwar building facades from Gdynia and Danzig, complete with period doors, windows, and decorative details that recreate the streetscape of the 1920s. Walking through these reconstructed fronts gives visitors a sense of how the city looked during that era.
The museum is open daily and visitors can walk through at their own pace to view all the vehicles up close in the indoor space. The covered facility provides comfortable conditions for exploring the collection regardless of weather conditions.
Many vehicles in the collection retain original components from their manufacturing period, including a Buick with its factory air still sealed inside the tires from the 1920s. This dedication to authentic preservation makes each automobile a complete time capsule.
