Hala Boracza, Mountain pasture in Żabnica, Poland
Hala Boracza is a mountain pasture in the Żywiec Beskids near Żabnica in Silesian Voivodeship, sitting at around 860 meters above sea level. The open meadow is bordered by forest and connects to a network of marked hiking trails leading toward nearby summits.
The pasture was used for centuries by shepherds from the surrounding valleys who brought their flocks up each summer. That seasonal grazing shaped the open landscape that still exists today.
The name Boracza comes from local shepherd dialect and reflects the deep roots of highland grazing culture in this part of the Beskids. Wooden shelters along the trails still carry the feel of that pastoral way of life.
The most common starting point is Żabnica village, where marked trails head up toward the pasture. Footwear with a solid grip is a good idea since the paths can be wet and uneven, particularly after rain.
On clear days, the pasture offers a view that reaches all the way to the Tatra Mountains, which rise far to the south. Few spots in the Żywiec Beskids give that kind of two-range panorama from a single open clearing.
