Rezerwat przyrody Buki Sudeckie, Nature reserve in Kaczawskie Mountains, Poland
Rezerwat przyrody Buki Sudeckie is a protected forest area in the Kaczawskie Mountains spanning about 174 hectares on northeastern slopes. The woodland contains beech, hornbeam, and oak trees that form diverse forest communities.
The government established protection for this area in 1993 to safeguard mountain forest ecosystems in the Western Sudetes. This action was part of efforts to preserve natural habitats in the region.
Rare orchid species and extensive wild garlic populations grow here as part of the natural mountain forest communities. These plants shape how the forest looks and demonstrate the ecological richness of the area.
The reserve is accessible via walking paths and cycling routes that wind through the surrounding landscape and offer observation opportunities. A road connecting major towns crosses through the area, making it easy to reach.
In May, wild garlic spreads across the southern forest section in thick carpets and releases a strong garlic scent throughout the area. This seasonal sight and smell make exploring the forest during this time particularly memorable.
