Schronisko PTTK "Trzy Korony", Mountain hut in Pieniny Mountains, Poland
Drei-Kronen-Hütte is a mountain lodge situated at 470 meters (1,540 feet) on the southern slope of Mount Trzy Korony in the Pieniny Mountains. The building houses 50 beds across rooms for 2 to 5 guests, with 17 rooms featuring private bathrooms overlooking the Dunajec River gorge below.
The shelter was built as the Pieniny Mountains developed as a tourism destination during the 20th century. Its establishment marked an important moment in how visitor infrastructure grew in this mountain area.
The hut serves traditional Polish mountain cuisine that reflects the food culture of the surrounding villages. Guests can taste authentic regional dishes made with local ingredients and recipes passed down through generations.
The location provides good access for exploring the gorge and mountain trails in the surrounding area. Visitors should arrive prepared for mountain conditions and ready to walk on steep paths depending on the season.
From the rooms guests can watch traditional rafters navigating the Dunajec River below, a skill that local families have practiced for generations. This river activity remains one of the most distinctive experiences linked to the lodge.
