Open-air museum of Pilica river

The Open-air museum of Pilica river displays historical water mills, military vehicles, and traditional structures that document the regional heritage of central Poland. The collection includes exhibits both sheltered indoors and displayed across the outdoor grounds from different periods.

The museum was founded in 2000 as Poland's first heritage park dedicated to a river. The initiative grew from the work of the Association of Pilica's Friends, which began its efforts in 1997.

The museum preserves objects that show how people here lived and worked in earlier times. The displayed mills and traditional buildings tell stories about the crafts and techniques that local generations used.

The museum sits near the Blue Springs nature reserve and offers guided tours for visitors. You will find both sheltered exhibition spaces and outdoor displays to explore.

The museum houses a German military vehicle Sd.Kfz. 8 DB 10 that sank in the Pilica river in 1945. The wreck was recovered from the riverbed and is now displayed as a silent witness to a historical moment.
