Sokolica, Limestone rock formation in Dolina Będkowska, Poland.
Sokolica is a limestone wall in the Dolina Będkowska gorge that rises approximately 80 meters and ranks among Poland's best climbing spots outside the Tatras. The rock offers roughly 30 different routes spanning various difficulty levels.
People settled the area around the rock in prehistoric times, as shown by archaeological finds from Neolithic and Lusatian cultures. Evidence of settlements from the 8th to 9th centuries on the summit indicates sustained occupation over time.
The limestone rock serves as a gathering place for climbers in Poland and holds significance in the local climbing community. Routes on its face connect people who share the passion for scaling rock.
The rock wall is easily reached: take highway 94 toward Olkusz and turn left at Czajowice toward Będkowice, where you will find parking near the fire station. Before climbing, make sure your gear is secure and properly fastened.
The rock contains two caves formed within the stone after it lay underwater millions of years ago. These underground spaces offer a rare glimpse into the geological history of the place.
