Szyja Światłowski's villa

Szyja Światłowski's villa, Early 20th-century wooden villa in Górniak, Poland.

Description

Szyja Światłowski's villa is a two-story wooden residence topped with twin towers featuring pointed roofs and surrounded by extensive terraces with enclosed glass verandas in Art Nouveau style. The structure now sits in Łódź's Urban Culture Park after being relocated from its original site.

History

A Jewish industrialist purchased the villa in 1939 as a retreat for his wife, who was receiving tuberculosis treatment at the time. The building underwent complete renovation and was eventually transformed into a public cultural space.

Culture

The villa now operates as part of the Central Museum of Textile Industry, showing how wealthy factory owners lived in the early 1900s. Visitors can walk through the elegant rooms and imagine the daily life of the family who inhabited this home.

Practical

The villa is now accessible to visitors as part of a museum and requires checking opening hours before your visit. Its location in the Urban Culture Park makes it easy to access and allows you to explore multiple sites in one area.

Did you know?

The house served as a filming location for an American television series and a Polish historical film, attracting productions seeking authentic period settings. This use highlights its appeal as a genuine backdrop for stories set in earlier eras.
