Wojnowice Castle

Wojnowice Castle is a water fortress with Gothic and Renaissance features, surrounded by a moat and situated on wetlands. The structure displays stepped gables, an arcaded courtyard, and a slender tower at the gateway.

A fortification on this site originated in the 14th century and underwent major reconstruction in 1513 when the Schewitz family redesigned it. That rebuilding phase gave the structure its distinctive late Gothic character that remains visible today.

The castle now serves as an educational center that brings together visitors from across Europe for cultural exchanges and learning. This modern purpose is visible in how the historic rooms are adapted for seminars and conferences.

The site is reached by crossing a stone bridge, and the castle offers guided tours, hotel accommodations, and dining facilities. Set aside time to explore both the interior spaces and outdoor areas, particularly the courtyard and grounds.

The stone bridge leading to the castle dates from a much earlier period than the main structure itself. Beside this bridge stands an ancient linden tree whose massive trunk is a striking feature at the entrance.
