Palace in Brzezina, Palast in Polen
The Palace in Brzezina is a two-story mansion built in the baroque style, located in the village of Brzezina in Silesia. The rectangular building with a mansard roof sits among large plane trees and is surrounded by a park with old trees, lawns, and walking paths.
A fortress with a moat stood on this site in the 16th century but was later abandoned and replaced by the baroque structure built between 1725 and 1730. World War II damaged the building, though repairs were undertaken in 1958, and it later served as a school before becoming a hotel and restaurant.
The palace served as a residence for local landowners for centuries and remains a focal point of village identity. The preserved park with old trees and pathways reflects how the estate was once used by its inhabitants for leisure and daily life.
The palace is private property and not open for free visits inside, but visitors can view the exterior and walk around the grounds. The quiet countryside setting makes it pleasant to stroll through the estate's park and observe its architectural details from outside.
Remnants of an old moat from the original 16th-century fortress are still visible in the southern section of the estate, revealing the site's former defensive importance. These traces show how the baroque mansion was built upon layers of earlier fortifications.
