Zespół Domów Wypoczynkowo Szkoleniowych HPR Porąbka-Kozubnik, Hotel in Polen
The Zespół Domów Wypoczynkowo Szkoleniowych HPR Porąbka-Kozubnik is a former recreation and training hotel built in a mountain valley near the village of Porąbka. The complex sprawls across several hectares with different buildings containing guest rooms, swimming pools, sports facilities, conference halls, and dining areas.
Construction of the complex began in 1968 and completed in 1970 as a recreation site for workers and officials. Notably, during World War Two from 1940 to 1945, the grounds served as a rest area for staff working at Auschwitz-Birkenau before being converted to peaceful use after the war.
The name reflects the village and surrounding peaks where the complex was built. It served as a gathering place where people from different regions came together to share meals, participate in activities, and build connections during their stays.
The site is surrounded by mountains and accessed via a narrow winding road through the peaks. Be aware that many buildings are in ruins and entering can be hazardous, though some areas are still visited by photographers and history enthusiasts.
The grounds hosted notable guests including the son of Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev. In 1987 alone, the resort welcomed over 31,000 visitors for extended stays, making it a meeting point for top officials and international visitors.
