Krynica Morska Lighthouse, Maritime navigation tower in Krynica Morska, Poland.
Krynica Morska Lighthouse is a white and orange-red striped cylindrical tower standing on the coast. Its light can be seen by ships up to 18 nautical miles away to guide them safely through the waters.
The original structure built in 1895 was destroyed in 1945 when German forces detonated explosives at the site. The current tower was constructed in 1951 and has served maritime navigation ever since.
A small cemetery beside the tower honors Soviet soldiers who died during an explosion. This memorial reflects how the past remains part of the place's identity today.
The tower is accessible from the outside and offers views of the shoreline and sea. The light signals follow a specific pattern that aids mariners in navigation, and this rhythm continues through the day and night.
The tower originally used oil-powered lamps before switching to electric lighting in 1938. This technological shift shows how maritime technology evolved in this coastal region.
