Krynica Morska, Coastal resort town in Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland.
Krynica Morska is a municipality on the Vistula Spit in Poland, stretching between the open Baltic Sea and the Vistula Lagoon. The beaches show wide sandy areas and dunes that rise over 40 meters (130 feet) at some points.
The village emerged in the 15th century as a fishing and pilot settlement on the spit. In 1840 the first bathing guests began to arrive, and in 1991 the place received town status after decades of German administration.
The name derives from the Polish word for spring or mineral water, reflecting early visitors' hopes tied to the sea climate. Today wooden houses in regional style and a lively beach tourism shape the townscape during summer months.
Access to both shores allows beach walks along the Baltic Sea as well as the calmer lagoon. Water sports equipment can be rented locally, and seasonal accommodations are available during the summer months.
With fewer than 1,200 permanent residents across more than 100 square kilometers, the municipality ranks among Poland's least populated towns. Pine forests and empty beach stretches dominate most of the year outside the short high season.
