Ilmet, Office building at Jana Pawła II Avenue, Warsaw, Poland
Ilmet is an office building rising 103 meters above Warsaw's skyline with 22 floors of glass and steel construction, positioned at a central location on Jana Pawła II Avenue. The structure provides about 19,150 square meters of office space, with its ground and second floors dedicated to retail and food establishments.
Completed in 1997, the building emerged during Poland's economic transformation following the end of communism. It marked a new era of modern architectural development in Warsaw during this period of economic growth.
The main lobby displays an illuminated capsule preserving the cornerstone laying ceremony from 1995, featuring Polish and Austrian newspapers and banknotes from before currency changes. This installation lets visitors connect with the building's opening moment and the era it represents.
The lobby is accessible to visitors and you can easily view the cornerstone capsule display while passing through the building. Since it is an active office building, access times may vary depending on business operations.
In March 2022, the building was transformed into a humanitarian aid center supporting Ukrainian refugees, showing its ability to quickly shift its function beyond traditional business purposes. This adaptation demonstrated how the building could serve the community during times of crisis.
