Kostrza

Kostrza is a mountain peak in the Beskid Wyspowy range that rises to 719 meters and is covered with dense forest along its elongated ridge. The northeastern side drops steeply while other slopes climb more gradually toward the summit.

The local name Piwniczysko comes from early searches for remains of ancient defensive structures that people conducted in the area. These historical searches shaped how the mountain was understood and remembered by the community.

The mountain holds local significance through its protected natural monuments, including an ancient beech tree that has shaped the landscape for generations. Visitors can discover these natural treasures while hiking and understand how the place maintains its ecological value.

A geodetic marker set in the ground marks the summit, and hikers will find benches and tables installed there. A posted map of the region helps visitors understand the surroundings and plan their route.

Natural depressions form in the hollows below the summit, which inspired local stories about a lost settlement supposedly sunk into the mountain. These geological features show how nature and folklore became intertwined at this location.
