The Kopiec Kosciuszki in Olkusz is a commemorative monument rising roughly 15 meters above ground, with a concrete foundation about 18 meters in diameter topped by a wooden cross. Maintained walking paths surround the structure, providing access from nearby streets.
The memorial was built in 1861 to honor General Tadeusz Kosciuszko, but Russian authorities destroyed it following the January Uprising. It was reconstructed in 1917 after years of absence.
The mound serves as a focal point for local commemorations, where residents gather on national holidays and remembrance occasions. This site connects the community to its past through shared ceremonies and national celebrations.
The site is walkable from nearby streets with parking available close by. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since reaching the mound involves walking paths on the grounds.
