African Museum Olkusz, African art museum in Olkusz, Poland.
The museum exhibits over 900 artifacts including sculptures, weapons, musical instruments, jewelry, masks, and traditional clothing from West and Central African tribes.
Founded in 1971 through donations from Dr. Bogdan Szczygieł and Bożena Szczygieł, the museum relocated to the former Olkusz hospital building at Szpitalna Street in 1984.
The collection features items from Tuareg, Dogon, Bambara, and Buszongo tribes, displaying ceremonial objects and artifacts used in traditional rituals.
Located at Szpitalna 33 in Olkusz, the museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with final admission 30 minutes before closing.
The museum holds paintings from the Democratic Republic of Congo created during the 1960s and 1970s, representing the artistic movements of Black Africa.
