Korab, Mountain summit in Beskid Wyspowy, Poland
Korab is a mountain summit in the Beschidian range that reaches 727 meters and forms part of the northern ridge line separating the Jaworzanski Potok valley from the Rozpite stream valley. The peak stands between forested slopes and grassland areas that define the local landscape.
During World War I, Korab was a site of military conflict that claimed many lives. A military cemetery with 33 Austrian graves today serves as a reminder of this chapter in the area's past.
The mountain slopes include traditional agricultural settlements of Jaworzna village, with local farmers maintaining centuries-old land management practices in the region.
The hike to Korab follows a marked black trail starting from Laskowa to Satzach Zachodni, which connects with a blue trail across the ridge line. Sturdy hiking boots and weather-appropriate clothing are advisable for any season.
From the northwestern clearing, views extend to Kamionna mountain and the deep Łososina valley below, where scattered high-altitude settlements nestle among the slopes. These remote hamlets remain largely unnoticed by most visitors passing through the area.
