Kościół św. Wita, Modesta i Krescencji w Sierpcu

The Church of Saint Vitus, Modestus, and Crescentia in Sierpc is a Gothic-Baroque structure with a single nave and a narrow presbytery. A four-story square tower and walls of brick with fieldstone compose this brick-built edifice.

The parish originated in the 11th century, while the current brick structure was built by the Sierpski family during the 15th and 16th centuries.

The main altar from the 18th century displays Rococo ornaments and saint sculptures, while a modern copy of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa reflects the church's spiritual importance to the local faithful.

The church occupies a position in Sierpc's Old Town and is surrounded by Farna Street, Bishop Florian Street, and Benedictine Street. This location makes it easy to find when exploring the historic town center.

The church's foundations rest upon the remains of a 10th-century pagan temple, with millstones incorporated into the lower sections of its tower. This layering of sacred spaces reflects the site's deep religious history.
