Oksywie Lighthouse, Maritime lighthouse in Gdynia, Poland
Oksywie Lighthouse was a maritime navigation structure located along Poland's coast near Gdynia. The building stood on a dune and rose approximately 47 meters above sea level.
The lighthouse was built in 1887 under German rule and operated until 1933. It was destroyed during the German occupation in 1939.
The lighthouse served as a vital navigation marker for fishing boats and merchant ships crossing the Gulf of Gdansk. Its beam guided countless vessels safely through local waters.
The original structure no longer stands, but a memorial was installed at the site in 2007. Visitors can explore this commemorative monument at the former location.
The lighthouse underwent multiple changes in light technology throughout its operation, from open flames to modern lamps. This evolution reflected the advancement of maritime navigation methods.
