Kościelniki, Residential district with Baroque palace in Nowa Huta, Poland.
Kościelniki is a residential district in Nowa Huta with a palace complex that stretches along the Kościelniki Stream valley. The complex was built between 1697 and 1730 and includes geometric gardens with regular patterns and structured pathways.
The area was first documented in 1369 and initially belonged to the nobleman Goworek from Kościelniki. It was incorporated into Kraków in 1973, though the district maintained its historic structure.
The neighborhood keeps its former village character through its original street layout and traditional local buildings from different times. These structures show how the community developed over the centuries while maintaining its own identity.
The district connects to central Kraków through multiple bus stops along Igołomska Street and offers direct transportation links. The residential areas are easy to explore on foot with an open layout that encourages wandering.
The palace gardens preserve a rare system of terraces and water channels from the 18th century designed according to geometric principles. This hydraulic network shows the technical skills and aesthetic ideals of the builders of that time.
