Park Tysiąclecia, Urban park in Toruń, Poland
Park Tysiąclecia is an extensive green space in Toruń covering roughly 19 hectares with diverse tree species such as white willows and common maples. The grounds feature a network of walking paths along the embankment and moat with gentle slopes throughout.
The park was established in the 1960s on the grounds of Fort Przyczółek Mostowy, a military fortification built from 1824 to 1832. The conversion of this historical site transformed the former defensive structure into a memorial green space.
The park was created in 1966 to celebrate the thousand-year milestone of the Polish state and remains an important gathering place for the local community today. People use it daily for walks and quiet time in nature within the city.
The grounds are easy to navigate on foot with well-maintained paths suited to various mobility levels and plenty of spots to rest along the way. Visitors should expect varying conditions depending on the season, particularly during wet weather.
Some elm trees within the park date back to the original fort period and are approximately 190 years old. These ancient trees provide a direct connection to the site's military heritage.
