Kubalonka Pass, Mountain pass in Silesian Beskids, Poland.
Kubalonka Pass is a mountain pass in the Silesian Beskids, located at about 760 meters, linking valleys and villages on both sides of the ridge. A road crosses it, and several marked hiking and cross-country ski trails converge here, making it a natural meeting point in the mountains.
The pass has been used as a crossing point between mountain communities for many centuries, well before any paved road was built here. In the 20th century it became a base for winter sports, which brought new infrastructure to this part of the Silesian Beskids.
The pass draws cross-country skiers and hikers from nearby towns and villages who treat it as a regular weekend destination. The surrounding area has a long tradition of outdoor life in winter, and this crossroads plays a natural role in that rhythm.
The trails are clearly signed and easy to follow on foot or on skis without any special preparation. Starting early in the day is a good idea in winter, when the tracks are freshest and the light is best for moving through the snow.
A shooting range is built directly into the ski trail network, allowing biathletes to train here at any time of year. This makes Kubalonka one of the few places in the region where this sport can be practiced and where local biathlon competitions are held.
