Castle of the President of the Republic of Poland in Wisła, Presidential palace in Wisła, Poland.
The Castle of the President of the Republic of Poland in Wisła is a palace built from brick and sandstone in the Silesian Voivodeship. The structure stands on a hill and combines clean lines with solid walls made from regional materials.
Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz drew the plans and work ended in December 1930. The building was conceived as an official residence for the head of state and retains this function to the present day.
The building bears the name of the Polish head of state and hosts official receptions today. Visitors notice the connection between the simple form and the representative role of the residence in the mountains.
Access is limited because of the active use as a government seat and possible only on certain occasions. The grounds lie uphill and require a short climb from the town center.
The walls of local sandstone show fine color gradations that change with the time of day. The roof follows traditional carpentry from the region and gives the building a familiar silhouette on the horizon.
