Pałac Czartoryskich w Lublinie, Baroque palace at Litewski Square, Lublin, Poland

Pałac Czartoryskich in Lublin is a Baroque palace with a rectangular shape and wide projections on its eastern facade. The interior contains a grand staircase and decorative architectural features from different periods of its development.

The palace was built in the late 1600s based on a design by Tylman van Gameren as a major Baroque work. In 1728, architect Franciszek Magier carried out extensive reconstruction that substantially changed its exterior and interior.

The palace functions as the home of the Lublin Scientific Society and hosts academic gatherings and research work. Walking past, you notice scholars and researchers using the building, giving it an active intellectual role in the city.

The palace sits in downtown Lublin and is easy to reach on foot from the main attractions. You should check in advance about guided tours, as the academic activities sometimes affect public access to the building.

In the 1800s, a tobacco factory occupied the building and altered its spaces considerably. By 1911, part of it was even converted into a roller skating rink before eventually becoming home to academic work.
