Podgórki Tynieckie

Podgórki Tynieckie is a natural reserve featuring wooded hills and walking paths west of Kraków. The terrain connects the Vistula River with the Bielany-Tynieckie Landscape Park, offering several routes through varied topography.

The hills formed millions of years ago with limestone deposits from the Jurassic period. These ancient rock layers continue to shape the landscape and its natural character.

Local people use this place as a green escape close to the city, where they walk through forests and observe birds and woodland wildlife. The wooded hills hold meaning as a natural refuge that residents return to throughout the year.

The area is accessible by bus lines 112 and 162 from central Kraków, with parking near Kangaroo School and the transit loop. Sturdy footwear is recommended since paths can become slippery when wet.

Hidden limestone caves throughout the area shelter rare bat species and other cave-dwelling creatures. These underground spaces are difficult to spot but reveal the geological richness beneath the forest floor.
