Vogel is a summit in the High Tatras that rises to 2037 meters (6683 feet) with steep rock faces and broad alpine meadows defining its character. The peak forms a distinctive outline visible from many directions across the range.

The mountain was named in the 19th century by German cartographers mapping the region, deriving it from the Slovak word meaning bird. It later became an important landmark for climbers across the region.

The Vogel summit serves as a meeting point for Slovak mountaineers who gather annually to commemorate local climbing achievements.

Marked trails approach the summit from several valleys in the surrounding area, with most routes taking between three and five hours to complete. Start with sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions at the top can change rapidly.

The northern face of the mountain harbors rare plant species that thrive only in the limestone crevices at this elevation, drawing the interest of botanists. Many visitors overlook this botanical feature while heading to the summit.
