Skrajny Granat, Mountain summit in Brzegi, Poland
Skrajny Granat is a mountain summit in the Tatras that rises to 2225 meters and offers views across three valleys from its peak. From here, visitors can see across the Gajsienicowa valley, the Pańszczyca valley, and the Pięciu Stawów Polskich valley.
The summit is marked by a monument honoring composer Mieczysław Karłowicz, who died in an avalanche during a mountain expedition in 1909. This location represents a significant moment in the Tatras' past.
The name of the peak reflects the region's multilingual heritage, as neighboring countries use different names for it. This linguistic diversity shows how the Tatras connect different cultures across borders.
The yellow trail begins near Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy and includes chains and handholds to help hikers navigate steep rocky sections. These aids are valuable during the ascent as the path becomes quite steep in places.
The peak is valued by experienced local hikers for its location and shape, even though it is not among the highest of the many Tatra summits. Its position makes it an important waypoint on longer mountain routes.
