Czarne Ściany

Schwarzwand is a sharp ridge in the Tatra Mountains that extends between two passes in the high alpine zone. The formation rises to approximately 2240 meters and consists of several distinct rocky towers along its length.

The first documented ascent took place in 1906 by experienced mountaineers exploring the Tatra region. Since then, the ridge has become an established route for climbers seeking technical alpine challenges.

The name refers to dark rock formations that give this ridge its distinctive appearance. Climbers and hikers recognize these dark walls as a striking feature when moving through the high mountains.

Access comes via the marked Orla Perc trail that follows the western slopes through connecting valleys. The route demands experience with high altitude terrain and confident movement on rocky ground.

The ridge contains seven rocky towers, with the fifth tower representing the highest point of the entire formation. This tower serves as a natural landmark during the traverse of the ridge.
