St Anne's Hill Calvary, Religious pilgrimage site in Góra Świętej Anny, Poland
St Anne's Hill Calvary consists of 33 chapels distributed across the southern slopes of the mountain and connected by stone pathways. The entire installation sits at roughly 406 meters elevation, creating an extended walking route for visitors to follow.
The installation was founded in the 17th century when Franciscan monks established their presence on the mountain and built the first chapel structures between 1700 and 1709. These early constructions formed the foundation for the religious site visible today.
The site draws thousands of pilgrims each year, particularly on July 26 for Saint Anne's Day, when processions and religious services take place at the stations. Visitors come from across the region to pray together and experience the spiritual significance this mountain holds for local communities.
Access is through marked walking paths from the central parking area near the Franciscan monastery, open throughout the year. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes as some sections are steep and the full route takes several hours to complete.
An adjacent geological reserve contains an abandoned quarry with exposed nephelinite formations millions of years old. These ancient rock layers offer insight into the mountain's geological history alongside its spiritual significance.
