Muzeum Tanich Win w Szklarskiej Porębie, Wine museum in Szklarska Poręba, Poland
The Museum of Inexpensive Wines occupies a traditional Walloon cottage and displays over 100 empty bottles with several hundred labels organized by theme. The exhibition is arranged in the basement space of the building.
The museum opened in 2003 when journalist Joanna Lamparska donated her bottle collection to the cottage owner. The collection also includes bottles from actor Stefan Friedmann.
The collection reflects how people in the Polish People's Republic era bought and drank everyday wine as part of their daily life. The playful label names reveal the humor and marketing creativity that producers used to attract ordinary consumers.
Access to the exhibition requires walking through a long, low corridor leading to the basement of the cottage. Visitors should prepare for tight spaces and allow time to browse the collection.
The collection includes obscure house brands and regional wine variations from the Soviet era that are rarely seen elsewhere. These labels document an overlooked chapter in Eastern European consumer history.
