Polinka, Aerial gondola lift in Wrocław, Poland
Polinka is an aerial cable car that stretches 373 meters across the Oder River, linking two sections of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. The cabins take roughly three minutes to cross the river, giving passengers a clear view of the water and surroundings.
This cable car opened in October 2013 to solve a practical problem of connecting distant parts of the university campus. The project came about because the institution had expanded facilities on both sides of the river and needed a fast connection.
Students use this cable car daily as a normal part of moving between campus areas, making it a living part of university life. Visitors also ride it for the experience of seeing the river from above while moving through the city.
The ride takes only a few minutes, so you can hop on at any time without much planning. The best times to ride are outside peak hours in early morning or late afternoon, when fewer students are traveling.
The ride offers one of the few moments in Wroclaw where you see the Oder from above, giving a completely different perspective on the river and city. This brief aerial journey lets visitors understand how the two university banks sit at different heights in a way that ground-level views cannot.
