NBP Building in Kraków, Neoclassical bank building at Basztowa Street, Kraków, Poland.
The NBP Building is a neoclassical structure featuring a facade with Ionic columns and a central eagle bas-relief at its center. Additional sculptures by Karol Hukan on the exterior represent agriculture and industry.
Constructed between 1921 and 1925, architects Kazimierz Wyczyński and Teodor Hoffmann designed it as the headquarters of the Polish Bank. The building became a symbol of modern Polish architecture during the interwar period.
The building houses the NBP Krakow Economic Salon with exhibitions about Polish currency history and financial developments. Visitors can learn about the role of money in Polish society through displays that span different periods.
The building sits across from Floriańska Gate and the Barbican in the old town, making it easy to reach on foot. It continues to function as a working NBP branch with a museum open to visitors.
The structure underwent extensive renovations from 2012 to 2020 that preserved its original architectural elements while modernizing its interior systems. These updates allowed the building to maintain its historical character while serving contemporary banking needs.
