Dutch consul Daniel Gildemeester commissioned the construction of Seteais Palace between 1783 and 1787, selecting an elevated location overlooking the Sintra hills.

The palace operates as Tivoli Palácio de Seteais Hotel, offering accommodations while maintaining access to its historical spaces and gardens for visitors.
