Teatro Maria Matos is a theater in the Alvalade district of Lisbon housed within a building that combines multiple cultural spaces. The venue has seating for around 450 people and operates as a multipurpose cultural facility alongside other functions within the same structure.

The building was designed by architect Fernando Ramalho and opened in October 1969 with its first theatrical performance. From its beginning, the space was intended as a cultural venue for the community and has served in that role ever since.

The theatre is named after actress Maria Matos, to whom the 1969 opening was dedicated. Since 2009 its programme has followed a contemporary, experimental line tied to independent creation, with foreign companies invited. It co-produces festivals such as FIMFA, Alkantara, Festival de Almada and Temps d'Images, and has staged tributes to John Cage under the title "100 Cage".

The theatre stands in Alvalade, within a fifteen-storey block that also held a hotel and a cinema. The 2004–2006 renovation removed interior architectural barriers and improved acoustics, lighting and climate control, and the main hall now seats 447. It reopened on 27 March 2006 with a lounge, café and rehearsal hall.

The building underwent major renovations in 2004 that introduced modern technical systems and improved sound quality. These upgrades positioned it as one of the better-equipped cultural spaces in the district.
