Pastelaria Mexicana is a pastry shop with distinctive architectural style that features broken line profiles, angular forms, and polychrome ceramic tiles. The interior spans multiple dining rooms and spaces decorated throughout with glass artworks.

The establishment opened on December 28, 1946, and was one of only two Lisbon pastry shops that manufactured their products in an underground factory beneath the building. This production method made it a distinctive place in the city's craft tradition.

The shop served as a gathering place for artists and intellectuals involved with Surrealism and Neo-Realism movements in Portugal across many decades. People came here to exchange ideas and be part of a creative community.
