Cacilhas Lighthouse, Maritime lighthouse in Cacilhas, Portugal

The red cylindrical tower, constructed from cast iron, stands 15 meters tall at the edge of the Tagus River near Lisbon.

The lighthouse began operating on December 31, 1885, with an oil-fueled white light system covering 342 degrees through a fifth-order Fresnel lens.

The structure represents Portuguese maritime navigation heritage and now functions as part of the Naval Museum of Almada after its return from the Azores.

Visitors can reach the lighthouse using ferry services from Lisbon to Cacilhas terminal, which operates regular crossings throughout the day.

Between 1935 and 1978, the lighthouse displayed green paint instead of its original red color and emitted green flash signals visible up to 17 nautical miles.
